Australia has some of the most spectacular tourism destinations in the world.
World Heritage areas like the Great Barrier Reef, Kakadu and the Wet Tropics are famous for their natural values and tourism experience. Every region in our beautiful country has its own tourism drawcards big and small. Protecting these places is in the interest of our natural heritage and our economy: tourism brings in around $35 billion each year and employs over half a million people.
The mining boom drove up the Australian dollar, and hit other parts of our economy, starving them of workers and investment. he Greens are working to bring balance to the economy and ensuring Australia’s position as a world-class tourist destination is maintained by protecting our natural wonders.
